Razer, the well-known high-end PC-gaming hardware company made its first attempt to enter the mobile gaming market with Razer Phone. It was the first attempt at the new gaming market for Razer and was a huge success. It was never marketed as a gaming smartphone, but with their track record and hardware preference, this phone was a huge success among the gamers. Razer phone was the first Android smartphone that gave 120Hz display and top-notch specs. It is now time for Razer Phone 2.

Razer Phone 2 Release Date Leak

It now seems to be that Razer will launch their successor of Razer phone later this year 2018. According to FANdroid with an internal source citing the new Razer Phone 2 will be unveiled at IFA 2018. But still, the news is just a leak and Razer is yet to verify anything regarding their new phone launch. They are still the underdog of the smartphone race and releasing another high-end phone within a span of a year after their first release might be overwhelming for the company.

The Competition

Even after releasing the first Razer phone it had to compete with other flagship enemies like OnePlus 6, Huawei P20, LG G7 ThinQ and the toughest one Samsung Galaxy S9. Razer will have set an example of how a gaming smartphone should be to survive in this market. They have to set an exceptional point of view on their smartphone.

Design

The Razer Phone 2 will certainly have to surpass its predecessor in the terms of ergonomic design. Razer Phone was made with fantastic gaming features and rather exquisite hardware the looks rather divisive. It is not having narrow bezel edges, chipped corners and a curved display is out of the question here. Even after these shortcomings the 120Hz display and dying-breed front-facing speakers surpasses all of them.

Original Razer Phone

Any regular user will also have difficulty putting it in their jeans pocket. But again this extreme gaming phone wasn’t meant for regular users. Razer hasn’t released an image of their Razer Phone 2 but we expect them to cover the shortcomings of its predecessor. It is up to them they want an ergonomic design or better hardware for their next trump card.

Expected Features and Spec

As mentioned earlier Razer is yet to reveal anything about their new gaming smartphone. So we cannot be given you any concrete news about the specs of this upcoming monster. The original Razer phone is featuring 120Hz 5.7inch display, 8 GB of ram with 64GB of hard disk space. Powering this device there is a massive 4000MaH battery and Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 processor. There is also a dual camera setup 12MP each with f/1.8 and f/2.6 respectively.

We can only assume that the CPU and the cameras will be upgraded. It is rumored that the Razer Phone 2 will be having the latest Snapdragon 845 processor. If it happens, the price of the device will also marginally increase a lot. It also might have a wireless charging option similar to Mamba Hyperflux charger.

Expected Price

The original Razer Phone is priced around $699 which is nearly Rs.48000. The price point is very high for the Indian market but still, a high-end gaming phone is always expected to be around that much price. With this price point, we can guess the price of its successor. We expect the Razer Phone 2 price to be at least similar or $50-$100 higher. For a great quality flagship phone with this much of gamer-friendly hardware (The first one) is quite rational.

Our Verdict

This phone will be another game changer in the market. If Razer puts a competitive price with similar or better specs than original Razer Phone, it will take the gaming market with a breeze. All of us gamers do love Razer hardware. They might be quite expensive but the quality and experience are phenomenal. If you are a serious mobile gamer this new phone will be your best choice.
